Ants Continuing AdventuresCheers for dropping by! Feel free to say hi...
July 09 Benidorm, 2007 (A Touch of Class!)A couple of years back I went along on my summer holiday with the boys over to Benidorm. The main reason being that, Craig's Mum, one of the guys going owned a flat out there so it would essentially be a dirt cheap get away. I thought I would never return...how wrong I was!!
This time I was with Craig again, but also Pete and his cousin Russ (and his eclectic mix in guitar driven rock!). We're all blaming Russ as the organiser..haha..only kidding Russ, Cheers for sorting it. We were staying on the other side of the bay this time, closer to the old town, which actually ended up being a blessing. I actually feel sorry for the place a little, as the old town has a little bit of character and is predominately occupied by either the locals or spanish tourists, with some really great Tapas bars. However, step out of there and its a whole different story!
Ok..so its a cheap package holiday and you always expect the "Brit" contingent. But these really are the lowest of the low. As was said many a time "I might be cleva, but I can lift 'eavy fings". Man!..its bad! Yes, we hit the strip in all its neon glory and danced to the cheesiest music in history. But that isn't the point. How one bar had the cheek to have "A Touch of Class" as its sign i don't know... it certainly mislead us ;-) You just knew thought that there were people coming year after year. So I openly admit to being a snob! But hey there certainly ain't any class!
Anyway, the week has come and gone and we all had a laugh...although my body is now screaming out for something healthy! pleeeeaaase!
And I'm not even going to mention Sticky Vicky, Sexy Barabra and Kinky Karen... Classy! May 13 EYP 2007, ManchesterSo another EYP (Emerging Young Professionals) is drawing to a close. Yet again its been really good fun. The theme this year was around
counterfeiting and espionage and the analytical chemistry behind it. Its always a really good conference to do a bit of networking and meet new people. Obviously a lot of this is aided by alcohol in the evenings!
Next year is in my little home towm of York, so definitely going get to that one!
In the meantime I've got a lovely drive back up to Edinburgh....show me the Pro Plus!! May 06 Caught in the act...So I was out last night with Claire, her sister Jane and boyfriend Gav and as we inevitably seem to be doing a lot lately, ended up in Fingers Piano Bar..
Anyway, so I'm busy suppin away on a cold Corrona when in walks my gym instructor, Julia...oppss.. I'm not drinking, honestly!
Ah well, we both had a laugh and she won't tell if I won't. I suppose though I'll have to put extra effort in this week!
But back out with them tonight, before all of that....It is a Bank Holiday after all! April 27 The Gym...Still Going Strong! What is the World Coming to??Well, its been around two months now since I finally got by backside into a gym for pretty much the 1st time in my life (I'm not going to count the 2 weeks that I lasted while at uni). Anyway, things are actually going pretty well and I'm managing to hit an average of 3 times a week. Indeed I actually completed my program last week and so have just started a new one!
I'm generally feeling pretty good about it all and there is a definite slow but sure rearrangement of the lumps and bumps. Just trying to work on the old six pack now for holiday season! ha ha....long way to go there I think!
No pain no gain though! April 22 My Poorly MGSo I had to put the car in the garage AGAIN last week after I had the engine over heating and steam pouring out the back. She seems to spend more time in than out these days :-( Turns out though, all it was was a worn seal on the coolant reservoir cap. Still Arnorld Clark throught it would be worth while to charge me 80quid for the priveledge! Bringing the total up to just short of a grand already this year, although a large proportion of that was because I needed 3 new tyres at its MOT...not cheap! (and don't ask why only 3?). But was then a complete pain that not a week later a switch went that caused my brake lights to constantly be on (not good). Although I still think that was totally dodgey as the old Clark Miester had also changed the brake pads at the MOT! (Think what you will).
Ok, so I'm having a few problems at the moment. But she is one of the last British Sports Cars to be built (In Britain!) and I still love her! She's more reliable than some things! ha ha And with summer just around the corner, its time to get the roof down..Us Brits eh?! Any excuse!
